As the title states, this challenge is a parody of Vogue’s 73 Questions (which I’ve never actually read. Sorry.) and bloggers on WordPress have been challenging each other to answer all 73 of these questions.
I was tagged by Sandy from SundayMorningWithSandy.com
and her answers to these 73 questions can be found at this link:
I was actually notified of this several months ago, but I kept putting it off, partially because I had other posts I wanted to write at the time, but mostly because it seemed kind of overwhelming. The trend has probably long passed, but I’m going to do this anyway, because I want to.
Thank you, Sandy, for tagging me, and I’m sorry I took so long writing my version.
73 questions are a lot, so I’ll try not to ramble too much, and just get to answering the questions…
The 73 Questions:
1 – What’s your usual Starbucks order?
I’m Minnesotan, so it’s not Starbucks, it’s Caribou.
At Caribou, I get the spicy mocha when they have it (it’s seasonal!), but I like all their other mocha flavors, too!
2 – What does your work station look like?
(This is much cleaner than usual.)
3 – Favorite food?
All the foods. I don’t know.
4 – Favorite author?
As a book-lover, it’s hard to pick. I don’t think there’s any favorite, but the closest answer would probably be to say which author’s series I read as a kid over and over, and continue to re-read occasionally as an adult, and that’s Cornelia Funke.
5 – What do you think of open relationships?
I have nothing to say on this, because it’s none of my business. In fact, it’s no one’s business, as long as all involved are fully informed and consenting.
6 – What is your favorite video game?
I don’t think I have a favorite. My favorite type of video game would be open-world games, such as these:
Currently, I’ve been enjoying playing the new Zelda game, which is also open-world:
7 – Guilty pleasure food?
I don’t feel guilty about enjoying food.
(Maybe I do add a little more cheese than is healthy, though.)
8 – Favorite movie?
Again, I am unable to name a favorite.
9 – Favorite book?
See answer 4: I’m still a book-lover, and I still don’t have favorites.
But, in place of officially answering this question, here’s the series I mentioned above:
10 – Twitter or Instagram?
Depends on what they’re being used for. I enjoy interacting with other people on Twitter, but as a more visual person, I like looking at pictures, which is what Instagram is for.
11 – Desktop or laptop?
Laptop. I need portable.
12 – Best advice you’ve ever received?
Because I can’t pick one, here are my two favorite bits of wisdom:
“Stop calling them ‘guilty pleasures’ and just like what you like!” (I’ve been trying to live by this, and as a result, discovering a lot of great things I used to avoid because they were too mainsteam.)
“Everyone is the hero of their own story.”
(You don’t know why someone is making the decisions they do, but they never think they are wrong.)
13 – What project are you working on right now?
“Project,” singular? I’m very bad at narrowing my focus, so I tend to have several projects going on at once.
Here’s a summary, I guess:
14 – Favorite color?
Oh no. These “favorite” questions are really getting me. I don’t know this one, either.
15 – Did you get good grades in school?
If the subject was interesting, yes.
If I hated it / it was boring / it involved memorization, no.
During a mania / high swing, yes.
During a depression, no.
16 – Dream job?
This is probably a strange answer, but I wish to be able to juggle several careers at once. I have several creative aspirations, especially writing, which I’d love to do as a “job,”
my partner and I have plans to start developing games together,
but I’d also like to continue doing something similar to what I did before becoming a stay-at-home mom. And I’d like to be able to do all of them.
That’s my dream. Time for all the jobs.
17 – Play any sports?
No. I’m the least athletic person you will ever meet.
18 – Do you have a degree?
No. I’ve done some college a few times, but I never finished.
19 – Nationality?
I live in the United States. (Minnesota, specifically.)
20 – What is your favorite kind of blog post?
Two favorites: Stories, comedy.
Bonus points for stories that are also comedic.
21 – What do you like to collect?
Craft supplies I probably don’t need. 🙂
…Okay, and I guess I have a lot of rocks, too.
22 – Describe yourself in three words?
Descriptive accuracy inability.
(lol sorry. I couldn’t think of three words, so I tried saying that in three words instead.)
23 – If you were a rapper, what would your stage name be?
I don’t know how to come up with this myself, so:
According to myrapname.com (the first random name generator I found when I searched Google), it would be “Em-Cee Becky A Gunshot Trip”
….Um, okay…. I’m glad I’m not a rapper, I guess.
24 – Who was the last person you DM’d?
My husband, probably.
25 – What’s on top of your wish list right now?
The clarity to sort my priorities out so I can even figure out what my wish list would be.
26 – Sorting house?
Hang on, let me go take that quiz…
I don’t know how I never got around to it until answering this question.
27 – How many tattoos do you have?
None, I’m too scared of needles. Even getting a flu shot is a struggle.
28 – What are you most grateful for this year?
I don’t know yet. The year’s far from over.
So far, all my friends and close family are still alive. That’s pretty cool. 🙂
29 – What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this month?
Not gonna lie, it’s probably that all the quarantining and social-distancing gives me an excuse to stay home and not deal with people.
30 – What’s the best thing that’s happened to you today?
I finished my to-do list early enough to have energy to write!
31 – What’s the best thing ever?
(Hi, Sandy! I hope you don’t mind that I kept your answer for this one.)
Love in close relationships means having support in happy and hard times.
Love for humanity in general means being able to empathize, and respect other people wherever they are in life.
32 – Favorite season?
Fall, because it’s pretty, and the perfect temperature. (Summer is too hot, winter is too cold, and in Minnesota, spring doesn’t exist.)
33 – Favorite holiday?
I don’t know. Maybe the holidays that involve food. I like food. Thanksgiving is one of those. Christmas has the coolest decorations, though. Sorry, I still don’t know.
34 – What fictional character do you relate to the most?
I spent so much time agonizing over this question, that I’m going to have to give up and move on. This is making me wonder who I even am. I adjust my mentality to whatever piece of fiction I’m consuming to relate to any character. I might be doing it wrong.
35 – Do you like surprises?
No, I prefer anticipation and being able to plan ahead.
36 – What’s the biggest surprise you’ve ever had?
My baby. ❤
37 – Which surprise made you cry?
I hate to admit it, but
same as above.
Finding out I was pregnant was terrifying.
38 – What’s the best surprise you’ve given somebody else?
Is it cheating to use the same answer as above again? My pregnancy sure was a surprise to my husband, too!
39 – Do you like muffins?
Depends on what kind. And when I do, I don’t like them cold. I heat them up and add butter.
40 – Do you cook often?
Depends on your definition of “often” . . . I’d like to do it more, because I do enjoy the process. I just don’t like the mess it makes. Typically, I’m cooking three to four times a week, in large quantities, so we can have leftovers.
41 – What’s your favorite dessert?
42 – Is there a dessert you don’t like?
Any desserts that have nuts.
43 – Cake or pie?
Pie, usually, depending on the kind.
44 – What’s your least favorite food?
45 – What’s your favorite condiment?
46 – It’s 4 AM on a random Saturday. What are you eating?
Probably something salty or chocolatey.
47 – If you could teach a college class, what would it be called?
“Do Whatever You Want”
(only partly joking. I’m definitely not qualified to teach any real class.)
48 – Best animated film?
This is so similar to Question 8, and I wasn’t able to answer that one, either. I’m just not really a film junkie. I don’t have the patience.
49 – What has a guy done or said to impress you?
Met me during my embarrassing, angsty, teenage years, stayed with me while I went through so many changes, and continued to love all versions of me. 🙂 ❤
50 – Best thing to do on a first date?
Something involving a shared interest, that you already know, so you have something to do / talk about. (I say this because I’ve never dated anyone who wasn’t a friend already. I don’t know what you’d do on a date with a stranger.)
51 – Worst thing to do on a first date?
I don’t know. Going out with a stranger, maybe? (You do you, though.)
52 – What’s the best pick up line?
Not using a pickup line.
Unless you’re joking. Because pickup lines are cringey. Making someone laugh seems like a good move, though.
53 – Best comic book character?
I’m not familiar enough with comic books to claim to know which one is best.
54 – Name three things which can always be found in your purse?
I don’t use a purse, but in my pockets, I don’t go anywhere without phone, a fidget, and chapstick.
55 – Favorite drink?
56 – If you could play a historical character in a movie, who would it be?
Whichever one can’t act, because that’s me.
57 – Kittens or puppies?
Why not both???
Kittens, if I must choose.
58 – Favorite sushi roll?
This is probably a lame answer, but I go with the California Roll.
59 – What lipstick do you use?
Does this count?
60 – What foundation do you use?
I’m not sure how to answer this. I don’t do construction.
61 – Blow-dry or air-dry?
Air dry. I don’t own a blow dryer. I’m too lazy for that.
62 – Who is your fashion icon?
I don’t know of anyone in the fashion industry.
63 – Favorite Disney character?
I haven’t considered it before, but maybe Lilo? She’s so fun and very aggressively unique; such an individual!
64 – What are you doing tomorrow?
The day after I post this will be Saturday, so cleaning the bathroom, probably.
65 – Movie you laughed the hardest through?
I can’t recall laughing through any movies. I guess I need to watch more comedies.
66 – Movie that made you cry?
Same as above, except I don’t want to cry.
67 – If you could sing a duet with anybody, who would you choose?
A sound-proof room, so no one would have to hear!
68 – If your life was a song, what would the title be?
“I don’t know what I’m doing.”
It would be out of key, none of the verses match, and it has no repeating chorus.
69 – What’s your favorite animal?
I like the fluffy ones.
If I’m specifically naming one animal, I choose my cat, Willie.
70 – Favorite illustrator?
Normally, I wouldn’t be able to name illustrators off the top of my head, but I like Andy Miller (the only illustrator I can name), but not even for his visual art. He’s the creator of the podcast “Creative Pep Talk” (under the nickname “Andy J Pizza”)
71 – The person you want to have coffee with?
Someone who knows not to talk to me before I’ve had coffee.
72 – What country would you like to visit?
I’ve never actually been out of my own country, so I don’t know. They all seem so interesting. Canada would probably be the easiest.
73 – Best way to decompress?
Either sleeping, squishing a stress ball, painting, or writing an angry journal entry.
After that, laughing, if possible.
This is the part where I’m supposed to tag other bloggers to answer these questions, too, but I’m so late to participating, that I’ve already seen these posts hundreds of times in my reader feed, so I think most of the bloggers I follow have already done this.
Because this is a very long post, I’ll end it here:
Sorry it took so long to finish this. I’ll try to do better next time.
Thank you for your patience! 🙂
